How we got started with gluten free
John Redman’s, (the owner of Marcelle’s Kitchen) oldest daughter Amanda was not well for a number of years when she was a young child. Over years of hospital visits and sleepless nights, it was discovered that she was Celiac, requiring her to abstain from any food product containing gluten. This was the catalyst that motivated John to create his bakery—fully dedicated to gluten-free baked goods and meals exclusively.
Earlier beginnings
The Redman family has owned the land where we are located (120 acres) since 1854. The Redman’s were originally dairy farmers. John picked up his baking skills from his two very talented grandmothers many years ago. Marcelle’s bakery (named after John’s late wife Marcelle) is able to keep their pricing affordable for their valued customers simply because John owns the land and building—allowing for lower overhead than his competitors.
